Susanne’s artistic journey began early.  Born in Montreal, Quebec into a creative household, her father an engineer/draftsman and mother an oil painter, offered her artist opportunities at a young age.  A pivotal moment was viewing a solo exhibition by realist artist Trechikoff at the age of ten.  This experience so influenced Susanne that she began papering her bedroom walls with drawings of faces and eventually painting portraits, selling the first one at age 19.  After graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Science, Darius worked as a microbiologist while continuing to paint.  Taking workshops with artists whose work she admired, she has worked for many years to find her own visual voice, distinct and separate from her mentors.  It is the additional influence of her science background that is driving her new engagement with the medium of oil paint mixed with cold wax that allows for experimentation with texture not possible in other mediums.
